We live in Randburg, opposite a park with a tennis court. When my sons were
younger, and our dogs, all rescues with terrible stories, they thought the park
belonged to them. Organising cricket games, golf (yes, you read correctly) and
the inevitable band practice going on in the garage. Only to discover one of
them had not been to school for some time… after waving goodbye to me and
then hiding behind a tree – in the park – reappearing as we left.
I worked as a draughts lady in civil engineering for many years, loving every
minute of it. The personalities and humour of my colleagues, kept me
entertained every single day. We worked hard and played hard.
Home has always been bursting at the seams with rescued animals and feral
cat colonies. In my life I have enjoyed sharing my life with two of the most
amazing horses, Hiawatha and Mcguire. While they both have long since got
their wings, their memories remain.
As you can tell animals are very important to me, I cannot imagine having a
home without them. Also, with children who apparently enjoyed the chaos. Its
amazing how far a packet of mince and a packet of spaghetti can go. I’ll share
my recipe with you!
I had the huge ego trip of publishing a book a couple of years back. I have had
some articles printed in various magazines – but this was a real book! About
my childhood growing up on a farm in Zimbabwe in the 50’s. It was quite
popular and appeared in some well-known bookstores, giving me great
pleasure. I have written a sequel that is waiting in the wings and have about
five novels all going at the same time. When I have a mind block with one, I
change to another.
